ØM SLUDD is about to release an album. We'll let you hear it before anyone else. We're also throwing a little label party at the same time. At Backbeat.
ØM SLUDD is a rapper and producer from Tromsø, Norway, who makes dark and experimental hip-hop inspired by the underground and literature. With a background in the city's punk and alternative scene, he has created his own dirty and uncompromising musical landscape.
The artist's first album is an ambitious dive into the outer edges of humanity told from the perspective of a young rapper. ‘Øksemorderen/Idolet’ describes an endless identity crisis through ten varied songs that alternate between being confident and anxious, metaphorical and direct, but always exploratory. With features from Unge Funksjonell, MC Magnus, REGZ, Boy Amour, MAGG and Klish, ØM SLUDD invites a bouquet of rappers into his head. The music is dark, challenging and catchy, with clear nods to both the 90s and the present. A deeply human theme unfolds over an industrial sound, with ØM SLUDD hanging out the mainstream and the underground, but most of all themselves.
Cora Records is a newly established record label in Tromsø with a focus on the underground and Northern Norway. With a broad view of genres and a focus on genuine and personal music, they aim to release some of the best music from Tromsø, Northern Norway and the country. That's why they're celebrating their first album release with an open house in their hometown, a little before the rest of the world and the country get the chance. This evening will also be a meeting with the label, where they will tell secrets and DJ their favourite music on vinyl.
